1. The type of photography that I like most is black and white portrait photography.
2. I like that style of photography the best because I once read somewhere that, “When you photograph people in color you photograph their clothes, but when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls. - Ted Grant” and that really stuck with me because whenever I see a picture in black and white it always seems different than in color because there isn’t any bright colors to stand out, but their features and how they seem. One of my favorite photographers, Annie Leibovitz, takes portraits of famous people and they are mostly black and white and I really like the way she takes her photos and how she sets them up.
3. I think that one strength I have is that I can replicate a famous photographers style without copying and with making it my own. If I have a plan in mind I can easily take those photos rather than going out and just taking photos without a plan.
4. One photograph that I think best represents the style I like and my strength is the autumn one, its black and white and it is a similar to a famous photographer but it is still my own.
5. I think that I need to improve on taking pictures of objects because when I try to they always come out boring and there isn’t really anything that would make someone stop what they are doing to look at it.
6. I think that the color theme photo is one that I need to work on, for the assignment we had to take pictures of objects for a certain color and I chose white and the items I took photos of were not creative and I feel like I could have done a better job.
7. I’m choosing the black and white photo from the autumn theme because I feel like it is more interesting than the others. When you look at the photo there is more to look at like where it has been taken, the lines and how the person is placed etc. When I was taking this photo I placed her facing the field, not posing or doing anything because I wanted it to bring up curiosity like “what is she looking at or thinking about” and “why is she just facing the field”. Also since its the fall, the field that she is looking at has a rustic feel which I think really represents the assignment and the picture.
